Serengeti Safari
The Serengeti is what many people envision when they imagine a safari: an abundant array of wildlife traversing endless, beautiful plains. At Ker & Downey, we offer several safaris that cover this iconic and valuable region, including our Serengeti Splendor expedition. If you visit between the months of January and March, you'll be lucky enough to experience the wildebeest calving season, one of Africa's most rewarding sights. March itself brings gigantic herds of zebras and gazelles across the plains and the chance to glimpse elephants in the surrounding forests. Our Serengeti Splendor itinerary begins in Tanzania's Sinya Private Concession, a wildlife preserve populated with elephants, oryx, hyenas and other exotic animals with Mount Kilimanjaro rising dramatically in the background. You'll travel next to Lake Manyara, where monkeys play in the baobab trees, hippos splash in puddles of water, and acacia trees shade groups of lions. The final third of your trip centers on the majestic Serengeti. Claiming over 5,700 square miles, this vast national park provides ample opportunities for viewing wildlife. Evenings will be spent at the Kusini Camp, an exclusive and intimate facility comprised of nine private tents with en suite bathrooms and elegant raised terraces from which to survey the terrain. We would be happy to provide you with more information on our Serengeti adventure or any of our other exceptional itineraries.
